Ban import of products from Amazon rainforest if not Deforestation Free

Petition Details

The Amazon Rainforest, home to thousands of species of plants and animals, plays a vital role in balancing the world's climate. However this year once again has seen an increase in deforestation, 64% up. Last year UK imported 1billion pounds on beef linked to illegal destrction of the rainforest.

Additional Information

Furthermore ingredients in products such as Chocolate, Moisturiser, Shampoo, Nuts, Coffee, Soya, Chicken and Palm Oil are all imported to the UK from the Amazon Rainforest. With only 14% of imports from the Amazon deforestation free we are calling on the government to make all products not deforestation free illegal in the UK. How much more of the rainforest needs to be cut before we stop purchasing these illegal products?
