Formula One should be placed on the protected list of sporting events.
Formula One, arguably more than any other broadcast sport has it's foundation in the UK. From manufacturing, technological innovation, and sporting excellence Formula One is more dominant in the UK than any other sport. The breadth and depth of interest in the sport in the UK is probably wider than almost any other sport.
The rentation of this sport on free-to-air broadcast is vital to maintaining the UK's commercial, financial, technological and innovation in the global market-place.
