Release the Results of Gender Recognition Act Reform Consultation
The government ran a consultation on the reform of Gender Recognition Act 2004 from July to October 2018, focussing on how to simplify the process for transgender people to legally change gender. The consultation received more than 100,000 responses, but the government has NOT released the results.
In the government’s own words: "This consultation simply asks how best government might make the existing process under the Gender Recognition Act a better service for those trans and non-binary people who wish to use it."
The consultation is the first step to the reform, so the results must not be shelved, and must be released as soon as possible.
