Dads to be there throughout the birth of their babies!

Petition Details

I want government and parliament to make sure dads can be at the birth of there babys from start to finish!

Additional Information

Because all the rules from Covid change week by week and yet the fact that a father can’t support the mother of there child throughout labour hasn't changed since the beginning.
For the mental health of the woman all dads should be able to be there not only that but the child is missing bonding time with there dads if mothers have to stay in for any reason.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

This is a clinical matter for individual NHS trusts on the advice of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynocologists (RCOG) and Royal College of Midwives, not the UK Government or Parliament.

Official advice from the RCOG clearly stresses the importance of trusted birth partners, such as the father, who don't have symptoms of coronavirus from being present during labour and birth: www.rcog.org.uk/en/guidelines-research-services/guidelines/coronavirus-pregnancy/covid-19-virus-infection-and-pregnancy/.
