Motorcycle Road Tax should be CO2 related for new motorcycles
The road tax for motorcycles, although presently a sliding scale based on engine size, does not encourage examination of emissions, only engine size.
The road tax system for motorcycles should be based on CO2 emissions for new motorcycles, with a banding structure similar to cars, including the zero charge bands.
This encourages the use of low emission engines in motorcycles as well as cars, and will encourage manufacturers to examine emissions more closely.
