Remove Ofqual's moderation of 2020 results based on schools previous performance
Ofqual moderated the grades supplied to them by schools based, at least in part, on the schools previous exam performance. The government should stand by their commitment to not disadvantage any child due to the cancellation of this years GCSE and A-Level exams and remove this historic bias.
This bias directly effects not only the grading of individuals based on the performance of others, but could also have had huge implications on the mental health of a generation that has had to wait until August to find out how much losing the high school lottery has impacted their future.
It is challenging enough to succeed in a failing school but to have that success stripped away due to circumstance and statistical manipulation, with limited opportunity to appeal or basis on personal achievement, not only disadvantages these children but actually damages them.
