Get all hospitals to allow birthing partners to attend dating and anomaly scans
The majority of hospitals are insisting that pregnant ladies attend the 12 week scans and 20 week scans on their own. All I request is that the birthing partner also be allowed to attend these scans.
This should be a happy time when expectant parents can see their growing baby for the 1st time. It can also be a stressful and worrying time for those ladies who have previously suffered miscarriages or complications in pregnancy. All I am asking is for all hospitals to allow 1 person to attend scans with the expecting mother for emotional support and would have to following current guidelines for face coverings, social distancing, etc.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Decisions about who can attend scans are a matter for the NHS, not the UK Government or House of Commons.
On 5 June, the NHS’s suspension of hospital visiting was lifted. This means that visiting is now subject to local discretion by trusts and other NHS bodies. You should check with your maternity team and sonography unit for their policy on visitors attending antenatal appointments, including scans.
