Stop reforms on the Gender Recognition Act
The government want to scrap the reforms made in 2017 to the gender recognition act. This will make it a lot harder for trans people to legal change their gender on things such as their birth certificate and passport.
The government shouldn’t go through with these plans as it makes lives a lot harder for trans people. Research by Stonewall in 2017 found that 41% of trans people said they had experienced a hate crime or incident because of their gender identity in the past 12 months. If people can be legally recognised by their gender it makes lives a lot easier and may even save trans lives.
