Hold a referendum for the legalisation of cannabis

Petition Details

I would like parliament to hold a referendum on the legalization of cannabis.
I think it should be the public choice on whether cannabis should be legal. The citizens of the UK have never really had the choice if cannabis should be legal or not. I think it is time that the public decide.

Additional Information

Legalising cannabis would raise £1bn in tax for the UK
- Criminals lose a lucrative industry, which will reduce crime
- Consumers get a safer product
- The burden on the taxpayer is reduced
- Around 30% of the public has used the substance in their lifetime
- Provide more jobs
Medical cannabis is currently legal but almost impossible to access.
Cannabis could be used to treat: Cancer, Epilepsy, Alzheimer’s, Arthritis, PTSD, ADHD, Obesity, Acne, Insomnia, Autism, Depression, Anxiety, Addiction.
