Petition Action

Introduce Compulsory After Hours Classes for Arts, Music, Sport& other Creatives

Petition Details

This initiative would make it compulsory that one night a week after school free classes in the arts, music, sport & other creative areas is offered universally to students.

Additional Information

Creative classes of all varieties have become renowned for their lack of funding, time allocation and prominence in the education system. Arts, music, sports and other creative activities are eminent with our youth outside of school hours so why are they deemed second class subjects within school walls. Ultimately, schools should be compelled to to put an equal emphasis of their resources time and effort into both academic and none academic subject areas.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

This is a matter for individual artists, venues, training providers, and sports clubs, not the UK Government or Parliament. Further, the Government is not responsible for which arts services are available where.

You may however wish to sign the following petition which calls for a related action: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/548969.
