Change the ruling to allow partners to attend maternity areas during COVID 19

Petition Details

Change the current ruling around allowing partners to attend all antenatal appointments, scans and maternity wards.

Additional Information

I am currently pregnant with mine and my partners first child. He has been completely ignored throughout this journey and his feelings, mental health and emotions surrounding this have lacked any support. He has been told that despite the fact he can see his daughter be born, he is to be deprived of the initial bonding with her post-natal Due to COVID 19, yet he would be allowed to attend public places, if he wished to, such as pubs and restaurants without question.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Individual hospitals and clinics, not the UK Government or House of Commons, decide who can attend scans and antenatal appointments.

You should check with your maternity team and sonography unit for their policy on who can attend antenatal appointments, including scans.
