Change Electoral Commission safeguarding rules for candidates at all levels
Change Electoral Commission safeguarding rules for candidates at all levels:
must have a clean DBS record, including Claire's and Sarah's Laws
must not be or have been subject to Social Services interventions for neglect or abuse
Review safeguarding to ensure sackings for breaches are reported
It is unacceptable to have candidates who have records for Domestic Violence, are locally known for breaches of safeguarding where sacked but not reported therefore not on registers and who are known to be 'under' Social Services for neglect or abuse being a vulnerable person's point of contact for local authority queries or action.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
The Electoral Commission doesn't set safeguarding rules, we're therefore not exactly sure what you'd like to happen.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, you could start a new petition asking the Government and Parliament to require candidates to disclose if they've been convicted for certain offences, if that's what you'd like to happen.
