Raise 18 to 20's minimum wage to £8.20 an hour to match 21 to 24 year olds
The government should raise the national minimum wage for 18 to 20 year olds to match the current minimum wage of 21 to 24 year olds, currently at £8.20 an hour.
This would help young people to be more financially independent when moving to university or out of home. It also ensures they are rewarded fairly and get the same pay for the same work as someone who is older than them. In the wake of the Covid economic crisis this will help young people who are worst affected to support themselves.
