Financial support for care home workers during the Covid -19 isolation period
Government pays 80% of salary all people who cannot work because of Covid 19 But those of us who work in care homes, we don't get this benefit. We feel more can be done to support people in need, When everyone else gets the benefit, we felt we are left alone.
My name is Tosy John, working in Nursing home as a Carer. I am making this petition to tell you about the financial difficulties we have with Covid-19 situation. Those who are Working in a nursing home, As you know we are front line staff in fight against this virus, we do not receive any salary support for all the risks and caring Covid patients.
We look after Covid patients, and we got infected. I was unable to work for five weeks due to this disease (Covid 19). During this period I only received £95 per weeks . As breadwinner of my family of 3 I cannot afford to meet expenses. we are already stretched beyond our limits. If husband and wife working in care home, They cannot meet daily leaving expenses never.
I hope we have a favorable action from Government .

Care home workers who are shielding are eligible to be furloughed under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS), and it is for employers to decide whether to take advantage of the scheme and furlough their employees.
