IMPROVE HARSH PRISON CONDITIONS UNDER COVID LOCKDOWN & SUPPORT REDUCED SENTENCES

Petition Details

Urgent action must be taken against UK prison lockdown restrictions. Covid lockdown has seen prisoners subject to some of the most inhumane and unjust treatment from almost 24 hour solitary confinement, given plastic bags for toilet waste, increasing mental disorders, suicide and self-harm.

Additional Information

The proposal is that for each day that has been spent in full lock down by a prisoner without fault of their own should account for two days off their original sentence. Solitary confinement is a measure used in prison to further punish an offender; however all prisoners were placed under confinement through no fault of their own therefore all prisoners essentially were further punished and this must be acknowledged to count towards their time served.
