Scrap plans for mandatory calorie labelling in food establishments
Eating disorders consume lives.
Calorie counting is one of the behaviours that can make an eating disorder spiral out of control. Seeing the numbers is incredibly distressing for sufferers, and will encourage bad relationships with food in others.
Please make calorie labelled menus optional.
The cost of obesity in the UK is estimated at £2.47bil per year (1).
What’s more shocking is that the cost of eating disorders is estimated to be around £15bil/year (2). This legislation has potential to exacerbate or cause more people to develop disorders. This will have a detrimental effect on UK mental health.
