Abandon government plans to include calories on all restaurant menus.
The government must scrap plans to force restaurants to include calories on their menus on account of the harm and distress it may cause people with/recovering from eating disorders.
Calories are a gross oversimplification of the nutrition in food and counting them only encourages toxic diet culture and eating disorders. Seeing calories listed on menus may, as stated by the charity Beat, cause those with eating disorders, or recovering from them, significant distress and put their mental and physical health at risk.
