Repurpose pubs to help open schools in a Covid safe way.
Pub and bar buildings are ready and in practical every town and village with heating lighting, toilet facilities, kitchens, tables chairs.. etc. If buildings facilities can be fairly rented from pub owners. They could be used to solve the social distances issues schools are facing.
This would allow children and teachers to effectively social distance without building new temporary infrastructure. This would be a very quick way to increase school schools capacity.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The Government has published guidance on the full opening of schools, but implementing this is a matter for individual schools and local authorities: www.gov.uk/government/publications/actions-for-schools-during-the-coronavirus-outbreak/guidance-for-full-opening-schools
The Government's guidance states that it does not think schools will need to deliver any of their education on other sites (such as community centres and village halls) because class sizes can return to normal and spaces used by more than one class or group can be cleaned between use.
You could call on the Government to provide additional funding to local authorities and schools to enable them to secure additional sites for teaching where necessary, if this is something you would like to happen.
