Stop referring to the State Pension as a Benefit
I want the Government and DWP to stop calling the State Pension a Benefit.
I want this action to be recognised by all concerned because the State Pension is not a benefit. People have paid into the system all of their working lives. It is an insult to those of us who have worked hard and believe it our right to have our pensions described as to what they are and not as a benefit.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The State Pension is described in legislation as a “benefit” in order to root it within the existing social security framework as a statutory scheme paid out of monies in the National Insurance Fund. This legal description provides consistency with other contributory benefits, of which there are several.
