Create an annual budget for road resurfacing
The Government should give local councils a sum of money each year dedicated to resurfacing the nation’s roads.
There are a huge amount of roads in the UK which are full of potholes and damaged. This needs to be taken care of as it is can and does cause drivers to lose control of their vehicle and crash. If there was an annual budget for resurfacing roads, it could help save lives.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The Government already provides funding to local authorities for the purpose of road maintenance: www.gov.uk/government/publications/roads-funding-information-pack/roads-funding-information-pack
We have published the following petitions, calling on the Government to impose new obligations on local authorities in respect of road maintenance, which you might like to sign:
Force councils to repair potholes faster & get claims for damages paid quicker: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/301304
Make it law that all local councils should have annual road checks in their area: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/300356
You could start a petition calling on the Government to increase local authority funding for road maintenance, but this should be clear what changes you want the Government to make to current funding allocations.
