Open GP surgeries
Currently due to Covid we cannot access GP surgeries and can only have phone appointments. Many patients needs to actually see their doctor for underlying health conditions. I want GP surgeries to accept patients back using all current safety precautions.
It’s the current government policy keeping the GP surgeries closed. It makes no sense because all we do is go to our local 111 service provider instead. Rather than backing up that system the government should re open GP surgeries so patients can go an see their own doctor. This could be done the same way as other practices such as vets, where patients can wait in their cars until their allotted time then if both GP and patient use masks at least most things could be dealt with or referred on.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
GP surgeries are already permitted to see patients face-to-face, so it is not clear what you want the Government to do. The latest NHS guidance to GP practices requires them to "be open for the delivery of face to face care, whilst triaging patients remotely in advance wherever possible". You can find out more here: www.england.nhs.uk/coronavirus/wp-content/uploads/sites/52/2020/03/CO485_guidance-and-standard-operating-procedures-general-practice-covid-19.pdf.
The extent to which they do this is a clinical matter for individual practices and the NHS, not the Government or Parliament.
