Give EU citizens with Settled Status the right to vote in all elections

Petition Details

As EU citizens are allowed Settled Status after residing in the UK after 5 years, proving that we pay taxes, we also should be allowed to vote in general elections and be able to vote who we best believe to be most qualified for the job of managing the kingdom.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.

EU citizens are already eligible to vote in local elections. You might like to sign this petition, calling for EU citizens with settled status to be eligible to vote in general elections: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/320740
