By law, the owner of the pet that has caused harm shall be made legal to pay vet bill for the injured animal.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We understand that you are concerned about damage caused by pets, but it's not clear what action you want the Government to take to remedy this.

Pet owners already have a legal duty of care to take reasonable care to ensure that their pets do not cause injury to people or damage to property. Seeking compensation for any damages would be a civil matter for individuals to pursue in the courts.

We could accept a petition calling on the Government to make it an offence for pet owners to allow their pets to cause harm or damage to another person's property, if that is what you want to happen.
