Allow Blue Badges for all with hidden disabilities
To allow anyone with a hidden disability to be allowed a Blue Badge, regardless of whether they have professionals involved in their care or otherwise.
I’m autistic, and was recently recently rejected by my local council as no professional is involved in my care.
The Government should allow all those with hidden disabilities to have a Blue Badge regardless of professionals involved in their care because those with hidden disabilities shouldn’t have to prove they need one other than proof of their condition.
The need for professional involvement could be trapping those who need a Badge but don’t necessarily need professionals in their care. Also, rejection of the Badge could lead to worsening mental health of those who are vulnerable in our society.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Blue Badges are automatically awarded to people if they receive certain rates of particular benefits, but are not normally awarded because people have a specific condition. Local councils, not the Government or House of Commons, are responsible for deciding who is eligible for a blue badge.
You could start a petition calling for the Government to review the criteria for blue badges, if that's something you'd like to see happen.
