Petition Action

Ban the sale and use of fireworks all year round except for Bonfire Night

Petition Details

I'd like the sale/use of fireworks banned all year except for bonfire night.

Fireworks can be enjoyed through safe organised displays on/around bonfire night & don't need to be used at new year, birthdays etc.

This unwarranted activity must stop for the sake of vulnerable individuals.

Additional Information

On different nights throughout the year, fireworks are set off which are very loud and very frightening to many people who suffer with anxiety, young children and animals like dogs and cats.

According to figures from NHS Digital, there were almost 2000 occasions of people going to A&E linked to fireworks in 2018/2019.

Over the last 5 years, there have been almost 1000 hospital admissions relating to the discharge of a firework. This is putting unnecessary pressure on the NHS.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly whether you want all fireworks to be banned other than on Bonfire Night, or for them to be limited only to organised displays other than at this time of you.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do, or you might like to sign and share this petition:
