Reduction in the amount of Overseas Aid from public funds
That the Department for International Development should receive no funding from general tax revenues from 2013 and that the saving should be returned to the general public by a reduction of 1p in the Basic Rate of Income Tax.
From 2013 the Department for International Development should publish its plans for overseas aid and invite those members of the public who wish to support those plans to contribute by way of a voluntary levy on their income of 1p per £1.00 on that part of their income that would have been subject to tax, such levy to be collected by HMRC and paid to the Department for International Development.
