Ability to Vote Against Petitions
There are a number of e-petitions currently active that UK residents should have a right to oppose, as well as vote in favour of.
Using the current system, a topic becomes escalated to commons after 100,000 signatures. It is easily possible that the rest of the UK may disagree with the subject, but have no ability to pronounce this disagreement other than creating an opposing petition - a laborious and cumbersome method of showing negation which most people are unlikely to do.
This petition moves that the government allows users of this website to add their signature directly opposing the contents of a petition, as well as in support.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.
You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
