Candidates standing for council elections should provide a one page biography and manifesto to every person in their ward
Many households fail to receive any information as to who their local government candidates are and what they stand for. This results in a low electoral turnout, spoiled ballots, and general apathy towards the election process.
Local government candidates should be required, when applying to stand, to provide a single side of A4 describing who they are, their connection to the ward they are standing for, and what they hope to achieve while in office. Once candidates are announced the council should ensure that every voter is provided with this information in plenty of time for the election.
