Petition Action

1 child paid for per household

Additional Information

Benefits for children should be limited to one per household. This would include not only child benefit and child tax credits, but also income support. A lone parent could be in receipt of income support until their OLDEST child reaches the age of seven (or what ever the cut off will be). After that point if a person out of work with children wants to claim a benefit they would have to claim job seekers allowance and actively look for work.

Savings from this cut should be put towards subsidised child care for working families.
