Part-time switch off of shopping centre escalators
Switching off shopping centre escalators, part time, is very simple to implement and has multiple health and environmental benefits:
- saves energy, in fact each escalator switched off can power several homes for a week (according to IKEA who switch off travelators during week days).
- switched off escalators become staircases therefore enabling users to build exercise into their shopping trip.
- lifts will be for the exclusive use of anyone who cannot use stairs.
