Prevent the sale of the Olympic Torches
It is disgusting that members of the 2012 Olympic Torch Relay team are selling their torches on eBay.
The Olympics is a national event, and should be celebrated together, not by individuals making a quick quid by selling on something that is so iconic to the 2012 Olympics.
The government should step in and prevent the sale of the torches. If sales are succeeded - any proceeds should be seised and donated to a charity. The seller should also be removed from any record that they were a 'Torch bearer'
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Torchbearers have the option to buy their torches - what they do with a torch they have bought is up to them. We hope they go to good homes, but this is not something in which the Government can intervene.
