Legal protection of letter boxes that are designated for Royal Mail deliveries only
Residents letter boxes are abused by depositors of masses of junk.
Law should protect so marked letter boxes from any material that is not proper postal delivery.
What is needed is a clear legal sign on the letter box, e.g. "For Royal Mail deliveries only", with warning that it is against the law to deposit other material into it.
Whoever opts for this legal letter box marking, could then prosecute all traceable depositors of litter, e.g. take away restaurants and other unsolicited advertisers.
The polite "No junk mail please" message is not enough. The law should defend the so wishing individuals' freedom, cleanly keeping their letter boxes for their sole purpose. That is receiving postal deliveries only, and not rubbish.
