Get the Government to take over the running of Wirral Borough Council

Additional Information

Due to serious mismanagement, the people of Wirral think the Government should take over control of WBC.

The Klonowski Report looked into the claims of whistleblower Martin Morton, who revealed systematic financial abuse of vulnerable people in council care.

Jim Wilkie was the Councils Chief Executive has had his Early Voluntary Retirement approved at a short meeting of the council's employment and appointments committee (07/06/12). He was elevated to the job after Steve Maddox took EVR before Klonowski began her inquiries. Hours after this approval an embargoed Audit Commission "public interest" report highlighting serious issues over a multi-million pound highways contract was released that concludes that David Green, the council's suspended Director of Technical Services, “probably” broke European Union Treaty rules by meeting with the company representative – and by further then failing to declare an interest when the contract was awarded.
