National Voluntary Service Medal/Award
As a possible way to address the perceived inequities of several voluntary organizations' members not being awarded the recent Diamond Jubilee Medal, it is time to automatically recognize a volunteer's efforts in their communities via registered charities/voluntary organizations.
This country is becoming increasingly reliant on voluntary services in these times of austerity and to recognize this dedication with a medal or other type of award (RECIPIENT'S CHOICE) would not be out of place when one realizes untold BILLIONS of pounds are saved by the Exchequer through the efforts of volunteers.
We, the undersigned, respectfully call upon Her Majesty's Government to give due recognition to the volunteers who work unpaid for the good of their communities and the country.
