land for landless people to grow their own food
We want room to grow!
We are calling on Parliament to urge the Westminster Government, to encourage public agencies such as Forestry Commission, Crown Estates, local authorities, housing associations, health boards, public trusts and landowners, public and private, rural and urban, to make land available for people to plant grow and harvest their own food. In these times of economic uncertainty and high unemployment, we believe that underused land should be used productively to create orchards, community and children's gardens and food growing spaces. We believe that there are a wide range of community, health and environmental benefits which can come from this.
We believe that there should be a presumption in favour of people being able to grow things on underused land unless there are strong reasons why not.
