Government projects to source equipment from UK firms with preference over others

Additional Information

There are benefits in morale, pride, and not least the economy for sourcing work and equipment from UK companies.

Wherever possible, HM Government should contract UK firms rather than overseas companies for any work or equipment. They should be given absolute preference - even if they charge a bit more, at least that money is remaining in our economy.

Bombardier's bid for the Crossrail project is a prime example of this not happening.

The Guardian even reported that the Government asked how much would be made in the UK, but said that it wouldn't factor into the decision! It absolutely should have!
