Remove requirement of reported incidents before putting road safety measures in place
We want the government to remove the requirement of previously reported incidents on a section of road before road safety measures are put in place.
Current requirements to install road safety measures (traffic calming or reduced speed limits) include the evidence of previous reported accidents at the site. If no incidents were reported in recent years, no safety measures will be put in place. This is a requirement that does not encourage prevention of road accidents.
If an accident has taken place with serious or fatal consequences then it's already too late to start thinking about safety measures.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
There is no such requirement, so nothing to be removed.
