Petition Action

Over the age of 19, parents income should no longer be taken into consideration when applying for college and university courses

Additional Information

At the age of 19, parents stop receiving any child benefit and as that person is now an adult the parents income should no longer be considered. Under the present system the young person may have no income what so ever and the parents may not be in any position to give financial help. The young person should be assessed for financial help in the same way as an older person would be.
