Referendum on television licensing
We, the undersigned, request that the government hold a nationwide referendum to gauge the true figures for those who are for or against the need for a television licence and to implement the changes according to the wishes of the majority.
As the BBC are the only corporation not to use advertising to raise revenue and with the digital roll out being complete in 2013, the excuse, used by the BBC, of better quality broadcasting will not be valid. Any loss in revenue by the BBC due to the abolition of the television licence could be made up through joining all other broadcasters in advertising.
