Petition Action

Remove "Bank Officer" as Passport Countersignatory

Additional Information

The current UK passport application forms C1/C2 must be countersigned by one of the following:

"a Member of Parliament, Justice of the Peace, Minister of Religion, Bank Officer, Established Civil Servant, professionally qualified person, e.g. Lawyer, Engineer, Doctor, School Teacher, Police Officer or a person of similar standing."

This petitions seeks to remove the words "Bank Officer" from this form and any like it.

The role of Bank Officer has lost any credence as a trusted position in society, and does not hold similar status to those others listed as being of similar standing.
