Reform the House of Commons

Additional Information

The House of Commons no longer appears to represent the views of the people it is supposed to represent?

The selection process for MP's to be reviewed.

The review to be carried out by a non political organisation.

Members of Parliament should not be allowed to stand for election unless they meet basic minimum personal criteria. Examples of these could include;

To live or have lived for a minimum period of time in the constituency they wish to represent.

To have worked for a minimum period of time as an employee of a company or in Her Majesty's services.

Generally the review should also consider amongst other matters;

The number of MP's to be reduced.

MP's to receive a realistic benefits package to attract good quality candidates.

The process of standing as an MP to be simplified including possible Government subsidy?
