0845 NUMBERS
More and more companies, organisations and government departments are using 0845 and 0870 phone numbers to pay for their switchboard costs. When you call from a landline it is MORE expensive than a local call and when you phone from a mobile it can cost you pounds before you talk to a human. Why should we pay these iniquitous charges? Why are not more people incensed by this? Poor people are more likely to have a pay as you go mobile than a land line so if you have to claim jobseekers or you are a single mother on benefits and need a crisis loan you will have to phone a 20 or 30 pence a minute number to claim it ...
