Cease Parliamentry Recesses
Amend parliamentry business/sittings to 51 working weeks a year (i.e. excluding Christmas/New Years break), and allocate MP's a statutory paid annual leave entitlement of 28 days per annum (excluding bank holidays).
MP's salaries (£65,738 plus expenses) are significantly above the national average wage (circa £26,000).
In these times of significant austerity, shouldn't MP's terms and conditions come more into line with the majority of the working population?
Families around the country have to arrange their annual leave entitlements around school holidays etc or buy services in to look after their children during those periods. Why should MP's be any different, especially as a large number don't have school age dependants?
Government parliamentary business and constituent representation is after all a full time job... all year round.
