Extend hate speech law to cover gender/intersex identity and disability

Additional Information

In 2008 Part 3A of the Public Order Act 1986 was amended to include the offence of inciting hatred on the ground of sexual orientation, but not gender identity or disability.

The Offences (Aggravation by Prejudice) (Scotland) Act 2009 was enacted to include the offence of inciting hatred on the grounds of any transgender and intersex identity, and real or presumed disability. This law is in force only in Scotland. A similar law should be in force in the rest of the UK.

This petition calls upon the Government to amend Part 3A of the Public Order Act 1986 to include the offence of inciting hatred on the grounds of any transgender or intersex identity, and real or presumed disability.
