The Wellcome Trust Olympic Bid 2012

Additional Information

The opportunity of converting the Olympic Park into a life sciences centre that would house two universities and create what the Prime Minister David Cameron envisages an “east London Tech City” vision creating 7,000 jobs surely is commendable and needed if the UK is to stay ahead. The government will be remiss or at least negligent to overlook this opportunity to be a world leader in creating this vision for the future of the UK in the science arena. For the government to accept the highest bidder and pocket a reported £500 million to augment the Treasury coffers in stringent and difficult times is surely short-sightedness.
