Rail Fare Rises & Network Rail Executive Bonuses
Noting public concern at:
a. the planned 2013 above inflation rail fare increases
b. the continued poor performance of Network Rail, as documented by the McNulty Report
c. the reported payment of £300,000 bonus each to 3 senior NR directors (Rail Magazine issue 703 Sept 2011) despite their pledge not to take up such payments,
d. the proposed NR bonus scheme to pay senior directors bonus equivalent to 100% of salary ;
We, the public, petition the Transport Secretary, Justine Greening MP, and the Office of Rail Regulation to
intervene to end the runaway bonus culture at taxpayer funded Network Rail by ensuring the creation of genuine and independent oversight of a NR's payment and 'incentive' systems.
We further call on the House of Commons Transport Select Committee to inquire into Network Rail's bonus culture and its appropriateness in a company substantially funded by the taxpayer .
