Legalise the sale of pure codeine over the counter.

I would like to see pure codeine available over the counter, instead of the drugs which are a mix of codeine and ibuprofen.

The drugs which contain ibuprofen are causing serious harm, including stomach ulcers and bowel problems, liver problems and kidney problems. in those who are addicted to them.

Obviously sale of the codeine would be regulated in a similar way to the sale of tobacco.

So:

Codeine must not be sold to anyone under the age of 18.

Buyers must first discuss the need for the drug with a trained pharmacist and those who are dependent should be allowed to buy it under the condition that they seek help for the addiction, so the pharmacist passes them a leaflet directing them to an addiction support agency. Sale may only continue with a go ahead from the support agency, and be supplied in such a way that the addict can taper down slowly. on a reducing dose until they can stop.
