Expand and Improve e-petitions
Since e-petitions has launched, we have seen around 5 million votes on over 30000 petitions. Some have been bonkers, some brilliant.
We congratulate our Government on a successful experiment and ask, “What’s next?”
The Internet is helping reshape the way live and democracy should not be left out, but for now we will settle for a few gradual improvements.
1. Allow e-petitions users to create an account, so that they don't need to spend time filling in their details for every petition they support
2. Allow users to vote AGAINST petitions too, so that our leaders can be confident they are answering the true majority and not just a loud minority
3. Writing petitions takes passion, which also comes with bias. When a group will be affected by a petition, allow them to explain their position so voters can make more balanced decisions
Improving e-petitions will help encourage people to engage in democratic debate and make our country and fairer and happier place to live.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.
You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
