Funding of Prisons

Additional Information

I petition the government to create a regime in prisons where prisoners work to earn their own keep and make a contribution to the upkeep and running of prisons. This petition is for two reasons: The first is that the unemployed who have committed no crime are rightly being encouraged to support themselves and the second is that it will avoid lifelong law abiding pensioners having to support non-working prisoners through taxation of their pensions.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.
