Reverse law that prohibits stores from awarding points on Level 1 formula
Currently, stores cannot award points or offer incentives on Level 1 formula. Although intended to incentivise women to breastfeed, this law also penalises women who do breastfeed and need to supplement with formula. This also penalises women who cannot breastfeed for medical reasons, or women who have breastfed and need to switch to formula prior to returning to work.
This petition asks the government to reverse the ban on stores awarding points and/or offering incentives on Level 1 formula to:
- Help families under intensifying economic pressure
- Acknowledge that whilst breastfeeding has health advantages, it is ultimately a choice for women to make themselves
- Support women who have breastfed and need to supplement/switch
